A worked example: $2,100.00 for four nights
Four friends book a house for four nights. The total is $2,100.00, of which $300.00 is the cleaning and service fee. Two stay all four nights, one arrives two nights late, and one leaves a night early.
- The fee is the same however long anyone stays, so it is split evenly: $300.00 ÷ 4 is $75.00 each.
- The other $1,800.00 is split by nights. Together they stayed 13 person-nights, so each night costs $138.46 per person.
- Each person pays their nights plus their part of the fee.
| Who | Nights | Pays |
|---|---|---|
| Organizer | 4 | $628.85 |
| Driver | 4 | $628.85 |
| Late arrival | 2 | $351.92 |
| Leaves early | 3 | $490.38 |
The four amounts add up to exactly $2,100.00. If one person paid the booking, send the group the summary; each person pays them their amount. If several people paid parts of the trip, use the trip splitter to net it all out.

Questions
How do you split an Airbnb when people stay different nights?
Split the fixed fees evenly, then split the rest in proportion to nights stayed. Add up everyone's nights, divide the nightly part of the cost by that number, and multiply by each person's nights.
Should the cleaning fee be split by nights too?
Most groups split it evenly, since it doesn't change with the length of the stay. If you'd rather split it by nights, set the fees to 0.
What about someone who only came for one night?
Give them 1 night. They pay one person-night of the nightly part, plus their part of the fees.
What if the bedrooms are very different?
Type a bigger number for whoever has the best room, for example 1.5 for each night in the main bedroom. The calculator splits by the numbers you type.
Is anything saved?
No. The numbers stay on this page in your browser.
